The F-4 Phantom II is without a doubt the most successful western fighter aircraft produced of its era. Conceived as a carrier bourne fighter bomber for the US Navy the potential of the aircraft was quickly recognised by the US Air Force and for once they ignored their pride and ordered a Navy aircraft.
The F-4C variant was the first Phantom designed for US Air Force use. The type is based on the F-4B but with a number of modifications including added ground attack capability, dual controls and redesigned wheel and tyre assemblies. The main airframe featured on our product 63-7699 is a genuine Vietnam MiG Killer. The airframe successfully shot down a North Vietnamese MiG 17 using an AIM 7 Sparrow missile on 14th May 1967.
RAM Models have photographed in great detail complete Phantom 63-7699 and also dismantled Phantom 63-7414. Numbering a total of 320 images we have covered all the areas which will allow the modeller to make their next scale project as accurate as possible.
